A Letter from Lynn 0:) for November 2003

Welcome everyone! I have just added more new stories for you to read. Since I started to work on the sequel to my first book, "Angels Everywhere" -- I have had many blessing in my life. I have bumped into people from just about eveywhere telling me of their encounters with angels.

I did an interview with the editor of a local paper who told me of an angel encounter his young daughter had had. It was amazing...he started to interview me but before it ended, I was interviewing HIM! He and his daughter have an amazing story to share!

I also interviewed with a TV News reporter in Nashville who, after interviewing me for a news spot shared a fascinating story of an angel encounter she had had as a young girl and had never before told anyone.

A radio talk show host who I interviewed with the past two years also, told me of his beliefs on angels and miracles and divine interventions.

These stories and others like them will be in the new book, "Angels Everywhere 2" due out 2004.

It seems just about everywhere I go, I am hearing about wonderful, encouraging, and amazing things happening in the lives of ordinary people like us...It truly seems as if there ARE Angels Everywhere!

I welcome any stories you may have as well, so please don't hesitate to share with me. Just press the "SUBMIT STORY" link to send it and I promise I will read it. It may even end up in another book--(with your permission of course).

I am so excited to have it near completion, but am always looking for more true stories of your encounters with angels, miracles and divine interventions. so please keep sending them.

I would also like to add any quips, quotes and poems you may have to share as well. We are planning on adding a message board to this site in the near future and look forward to hearing from you daily. So, don't forget to bookmark this website on your favorite places and come back often to see what we've added. I welcome any suggestions you may have for me...I want you to feel at home here.

I look forward to talking with you soon.

Hugs and Blessings,

Lynn Valentine

P.S. Don't forget to keep your eyes, heart and mind open... You never know, an angel may be standing by!

An Angel to help me cross (NEW!)

During the Christmas season last year, I was waiting by a sidewalk for a taxicab that I had called from a payphone.

But, I needed to cross the street to the oppsite corner because the Taxi was supposed to come from that direction. The heavy traffic wouldn't allow me to cross. Suddenly, as if out of nowhere a young woman was standing beside me. She took my hand, saying, "Come with me, I will help you to cross".

She started gesturing to cars to stop while we were walking. When we reached the opposite sidewalk, I thanked her and asked her name. She smiled ever so prettily and said, "My name is Seraphina". Then she was gone.

That was the moment I knew that she was an angel. That I had a guardian angel of my very own.

Everytime I recount this experience, my eyes tear up slightly and I feel a chill throughout my body, letting me know she is always with me.

An Angel (NEW!)

My encounter with an angel came in the form of a dream. I believe this happened in 1961, when our son was thirteen years old.

I dreamt that I was going to be visited by an angel, and almost immediately he came to my door. He said, "I have some bread for you." I said, "Oh, we don't need any bread, we have some." I wasn't thinking straight or I would've realized he meant "the bread of life." John 6:35 But my stupid reply didn't seem to faze him anyway.

He came in and seated himself on the bench in front of the piano. A few remarkable things happened when he was in the house. I noticed that under his feet, the rug appeared checked, yet the pattern of our floor was a flowery print. I couldn't understand why it was different from the design under his feet. Then he walked out the door, and I followed him. He took me down the highway, as we walked I asked him, "What's going to happen to my son, Vernon Lee?" I must've asked him several different times but he refused to answer me.

When we got down to the last street in Atwood, just off the highway, I saw a concrete block on a building with the words, "Flock's Creek" printed on it.

The angel then started walking up that street in Atwood. By that time I was getting desperate to know what was going to happen to my son. And I was going to say to him, "You know what's going to happen to my son, please tell me." As I started to speak to him, he vanished. He just disappeared. I turned my head to look for him and as I did, I was given a vision of Pleiku, Vietnam. I didn't know there even was such a place.

Years later, I was watching a Bob Hope special and they showed Pleiku on televison. I told Garland, "That's what I saw when I had the visitation of the angel in my dream sometime ago. It was unbelieveable to me, my dream about this place, and we wondered what it all meant.

At the time of this dream, there was only one little highway in front of Atwood, but in my dream, there was a big divided highway. I had no idea what would ever happen. But, in 1968 there was indeed a big divided highway in front of Atwood, and our son was swerving his country in Vietnam, at Pleiku.

Just before Vernon went to Vietnam, Garland decided to buy new flooring for the livingroom. He was going to cut out the carpet and reuse it in the bedroom. When we went to the store to pick out the new carpeting we decided on another flowery pattern to be put down. But when Garland cut it, he had made a mistake and cut it too small. He would have to go back to the store and see if he could cover up the mistake by "Piecing it" together with more of the same carpet. When Garland came back...he said all they had left was a "checked" pattern. A pattern like the one I saw under the angels feet that day.

I don't know why these things happened. but I am persuaded that God loves us, guides us, strengthens and encourages us.

"God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perciveth it not. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed. Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction." Job 33:14-16

Wrapped in Angels Wings (NEW!)

I had been a widow for about 5 years, so was able to choose my own sleeping schedule which usually was from about Midnight till 9:00 am.

One night as I crawled into bed about midnight, I was lying there just thinking about how comfortable my bed felt. I suddenly (in my head ) heard this strange word.

I started to spell it out loud--Z U R I E L. As I pronounced it, I realized that the only word I had ever heard that even sounded remotely like that one was U R I E L, the name of an angel.

"Are you an angel?" I asked. I knew the answer was "Yes!" Are you by chance my guardian angel?" "Yes!" was the answer once again. At that point, feeling wrapped in angels wings I fell asleep.

The next morning as I woke up, I heard another strange word. It was "Narandra"--and when I asked about it, I was told it is the name my angel knows me by.

Since that time, I have been collecting angels. Everything angels. I have hundreds of them. They make me feel comforted and it is impossible for me to ever feel lonely. I am blessed with many angel friendships...a friend gave me an angel that reminds me of myself after a long hard day. She stands 2o inches tall, looks pretty frazzled and holds a sign that says "Off duty Angel." I treasure it.

It is good to know that no matter what time of day or night, my guardian angel is never off-duty!"

My Car Was Headed Straight for the Ditch (NEW!)

It was still winter, but the roads were mostly dry, as I made my way up to visit my Grandma in the mountains of Sommerset PA. I had my 2 yr. old son fastened in his car seat in the back seat of my Toyota, and my parakeet "Punchy" in his cage in the front seat. It had been a pleasant drive up through the mountains and I was only about 3 miles from Grandma's house, cruising along at about 45 mph on Rt 610.

On the road in front of me was an ice patch that had formed when melting snow ran down from the hill on the side of the road and froze over. I didn't see it, didn't expect it, the roads were otherwise dry. The ice patch was huge, maybe 200 yds long and it had spread over both sides of the road. As my car hit the ice it took off to the left, out of control, crossing over into the oncoming lane and heading straight for what was a very long drop off on the other side of the road.

I was totally out of control and close to going over the edge. I feared we were going over and I called out in a loud voice, "Jesus". I didn't have time or enough breath to say anything else, but nothing else was needed. I know that He heard me and I trusted that no matter what, our lives were in His hands.

Immediately after crying out His name, my car made an abrupt turn to the right, away from the drop-off. It was still out of control as it spun back across both lanes and kind of plopped headfirst into a snowbank which was on the opposite side of the road from the drop-off. The car was stopped suddenly by the snowbank, it stalled, my head hit the windshield, the bird's cage was upside down, my son was crying, but still fastened snugly in his carseat unharmed. Except for a little bump on the head we were all unharmed.

I thanked the Lord, and after regaining composure to the point where I felt I could walk (those kind of close encounters leave you weak), I walked over to the other side of the road and looked over the bank that we had almost gone over. I'm not sure if we would have survived the crash had our car gone over. All I know is that God chose not to let us. I believe His angels encamp around those that fear (or reverence) His name to rescue them in times of trouble. I believe His angels were present that day.

After a short time, I was able to back my car out from the snowbank and I made it to grandma's house, quite shaken but unharmed. As I told her the story she just shook her head with tears in her eyes. I knew she was so thankful that we had arrived safely. She always worried about me.

The next day, grandma was in line at the local bank, and she overheard the man behind her telling the story of my accident to his friend. Apparently he had been following not too far behind me. Why he didn't stop, I don't know. As he said, "Yea, I really thought she was going over the cliff", my grandma turned and exclaimed, "That was my grandaughter! and she's ok". I told grandma how calling on the name of the Lord protected us and how well she knew, for she's the one who first taught me to pray.

Snowlight

A few years ago, my husband was diagnosed with choriocarcinoma, a type of testicular cancer. He was only 23 as he began numerous cancer treatments. At one point during his treatment, he began to bleed internally, resulting in emergency exploratory surgery. They almost lost him then but got him stable in time to find a tumor the size of a football that had caused the hemorrhage.

Another surgery was planned for two days later. Things looked grim though, and the doctors prepared me for the worst.

I stayed with him every minute, holding his hand and praying. We kept the television on as the hours went by, but didn't really watch it until a show about angels came on. It was one of those reenactment shows, where they told one story after another of healings, miracles and visits by angels. In one segment, a man was praying for his son to be healed, and it happened.

Inspired, I asked my husband if he would let me pray to God to heal him. He couldn't talk because he had a breathing tube in his mouth, but he nodded his head, Yes. I began to pray.

I asked God to please, send angels, and to touch my husband and make him well. I just kept saying the same prayer over and over. As I prayed, I looked up and saw what looked like snow made of light falling on my husband. It was like out of a movie. He didn't appear to see it, so I didn't mention it to him at the time; figuring maybe it was a figment of my imagination. Still though, deep down, I felt that in that very moment, God had heard me and intervened.

Later, while in the ICU room with my husband, his father called from Massachusetts to tell us about a woman from church who had seen a vision about his son. She said she had seen him in ICU with angels surrounding his bed. I brought up what I had seen while I was in the ICU room praying. I looked over at my husband and as I described the snow made of light, my husband began to nod. I asked him if he saw it too. He nodded his head, Yes! So much for my overactive imagination. We all praised God, knowing then and there all would be well.

As for my husband, he made it through just fine. Two years have passed and as far as his cancer goes, the last time he had a check-up, he was normal.

Saved from Drowning

When I was 12, I was in a aboard a large ship returning to the United States from Germany. My Dad was in the military, and we traveled quite a bit so this wasn't new to me, but one thing that made this trip exciting was that there was a large indoor swimming pool on board.

A friend asked me to go with her for a swim, and although I could not swim well, I just couldn't resist the temtation to have a dip. It was in the late afternoon and we were the only two in sight, so we made the most of it, splashing, playing and laughing.

I was in the shallow end when her brother came up and called her in for dinner. I should have gone too, but I convinced her I would be safe and keep a hand on the the edge of the pool. I had gotten so relaxed and comfortable I decided to stay in for a while longer, when suddenly my hands lost their hold on the side of the pool, and I slipped into water way over my head. So I began to panic, sinking under the water and rising back up. Each time I surfaced I tried to scream for help but water flooded into my mouth and I swallowed it in. I did this three times, getting more tired with each moment, until finally I began to sink. I realized I was going to drown.

As I sank, I thought of my Mom and Dad, my sister and brothers, how sad they would be when told that I had drowned. My heart ached for the pain my death would cause them. I closed my eyes as my lungs were bursting for air; I was going to have to give in and breathe in the water. My final thought was; God help me!

Suddenly I felt a pressure from behind me, it felt like powerful giant arms were lifting my body from the water. One moment I was drowning and the next I was standing bewildered at the shallow end of the pool. I immediately turned around to embrace the huge person who had lifted me, but there was nobody there! I knew instantly that my guardian angel had saved me. There was no other explanation. My final little prayer to God had been heard.

Dream Angel

Even though it happened in a dream I have always felt that an angel did something wonderful for me. My 12-year-old Grandson had died suddenly in an accident. The grief was unbearable. The scene that played over and over in my mind was the very last time I saw him. His 14-year-old sister had spent the night with me and I took her home and was backing out of the driveway when I saw my grandson in their yard and we waved and smiled at each other. Of course I didn't know I would never see him again or I would have taken the time to give him a big hug. Three days later he was gone.

After several weeks of agonizing grief I dreamed about an angel bringing him down from heaven in her arms. It was an awesome scene. I can't possibly describe it. We gave each other a wonderful hug and just as suddenly as the angel came down it returned to the heavens with my grandson. I know it was a dream, but it helped me through my grief more than any other thing. It was the most realistic dream I have ever had. Even though it has now been 14 years the dream is still very vivid in my mind. God has used dreams in the past, and this time, he made one just for me. Thank you, God.

Psalm 150

As a professional musician in Nashville, I had been through a lot of things, but once I decided to dedicate my musical ability to the Lord, I had no idea just what kind of opposition I would face from the other side.

My wife Sherrie (who is a session singer) and I made up our minds to put out a record of original Christian songs. We had already written the material and had a number of professionals ready to get involved. Eager for what was ahead we counted the days until we went to the studio.

Two weeks after getting everything set up, I decided to get some yard work out of the way. One particularly glaring problem was a dying elm tree next to the house. Many elm trees in the area had blight and cutting them down had become a regular chore for me so, with chain saw in hand, I ascended the tree and got ready to get it off of my things to do list.

I began cutting away limbs, working my way to a particularly thick one. As the chain saw chewed into the wood, I worked the cut as I had done hundreds of times before, letting it cut until the weight of the branch started cracking what was left, and then, let it fall. However, this time, I was surprised as this thick branch suddenly snapped. It turned out it had been rotting inside, and as I cut what little was holding it up, it snapped back, almost as if attacking, throwing me from my perch. I had the presence of mind to throw the chain saw, but my aim wasn't so good as I actually fell on top of it. It was still running and cut into my face.

As if it were not bad enough being thrown from the tree, and getting sawed, the very branch that knocked me from the tree, came crashing down hard on my leg, badly breaking it.

Sherrie was in the house, and the crashing sounds must have caught her attention. She ran outside, and I can only give credit to God and her faithfulness in Him, because she reached down, and moved the 500 pound limb off of my body. Strong healthy men couldn't have lifted it, but she picked it up and moved it off of me.

The miracle didn't end there though.

The doctor fixed me up but the break was bad and in a bad spot. He said that it would most likely be three months until I would walk again without pain. I hated being sidelined like that. As I mentioned I am a musician, and among my other pleasures is serving on the church worship team. I play keyboards and guitar mostly, but for this team I primarily played drums. Even with my leg out of commission, I wasn't going to let that stop me from doing what I loved to do, so I put my leg on a chair, and played as best as I could.

The pain was bad, and even more than that, being laid up was putting us in a bind financially too. During one particular service when I was playing, I decided enough was enough and wanted to ask God to fix it. After all, He saved me from being killed by the tree, and the chain saw, and He gave my wife the strength to get that limb off of me... why wouldn't He heal me also? I really felt the Spirit of the Lord was strong in the room that day. While people were in prayer, and asking for prayer, I asked for them to pray for my leg. Practically everyone in the church surrounded me and put their hands on me, each praying for God's healing touch. As they did this, I began to feel an itching sensation. It was an itch that I knew I couldn't get to because it wasn't outside on the skin, but rather deep inside. I knew the bone was healing right then.

I walked out of the church that day, without crutches and without pain. The doctors marvelled at the results. They x-rayed my leg, and while the fracture could barely be seen, it had been healed. I gave glory to God. Later, at a drugstore, an older woman was looking at crutches, obviously distressed at how much they cost. I remembered I had mine in the truck and gave them to her for free. It was clear to me that God not only took care of me, but put me in a place to give those crutches to someone who needed them more. Psalm 150 says; Let everything that has breath Praise the Lord so that is how I end this story, by saying, Praise the Lord!
